What is CentOS? Well, it’s a linux based operating system forked from the open sourced parts of Red Hat. More importantly they are not Red Hat. None of that is a bad thing. Certainly it can be deployed in a container, microserver, or even a server. I’m not sure it’s suited for embedded systems because it does move more like a cruise ship than a ski boat. It also has many batteries included.
The challenge for CentOS is that proper container development composition suggests that most server OS is just bloated. Just ask yourself what what does CentOS do that fill-in-the-blank cannot.
