I don’t know jack on this subject but I was able to confirm that there is a CO2 cost per Kwh. Interestingly it’s pretty much a fixed ratio to manufacture a 100 mile vs 300 mile battery.
So the argument against EVs is the environmental cost of manufacturing the battery packs. I’d argue that if the most you drive is 100 miles per day then [a] that’s probably just fine in terms of environmental costs and then [b] either take more breaks or rent a car for the longer trips.
EVs environmental impact is a one-time cost depending on the life of the battery.
I’m waiting for the next generation of EVs… and the batteries. However, I fully expect that the cost is going to settle to the same MPH or MP-charge.
