Microsoft Buys Github

Posted at — Jun 4, 2018

Have you ever read the terms and conditions for gmail, dropbox, Crashplan, Backblaze or virus detection? The fine print asks you to accept that they are going to scan and manipulate you data. To the average person this means that they are going to compress the file or index it for you… to the skeptical this means that they are going to apply some AI and learn things about you and sell that information to someone who cares… regardless how they might use it.

So what does Microsoft get from owning Github? Do they have the right to use all the code that is up there? Are the TERMS any different if you are a paid customer?
