I really do not want to start with a history lesson but my thesis suggests that while google is not supposed to be doing evil they are picking winners.

• google is an advertising monopoly
• google has consumed the browser competition
• having a google workspace account does not supress google learning about you
• many, maybe most, google products do not work with google workspace accounts (nest, googletv, hub)
• (see billion dollar code) google may actually perform dirty tricks
• ChromeOS works great and helps manufacturers sell cheap hardware. When you get premium hardware the cost is the same with minimal performan benefit
• google cannot finish some things like their chat, video chat and so on
• their work on golang truly disappoints but there are no reasonable alternatives yet

My next phone will be a samsung; just because. I still use the Chrome browser for some things but I’m moving to firefox. I’m also moving to Linux and avoiding ChromeOS too. I’ve tried to move my email to my synology so I’ll see how that works over time. Training my wife and kids seems to be the hard part.

I’m done with this. It’s a waste of time.
