Toy around with the Golang template framework one realizes that the view is just a view. While there is some support from basic conditionals and loops you really cannot mutate any of the data in anyway by default. If you want to transform any data your template you need to import local functions. This is not entirely a bad thing but probably undesirable from an idiom perspective. After working with the templates for almost 2 weeks now I come to the conclusion that is better the templates are just used strictly to expand your data into the forms and format that they are being visualized through.Once the templating and the user facing GUI are co-mingled enhancements are nearly impossible. But that’s just my intuition.
