What a pain in the ass! Sitting at the kitchen counter trying to get some basic work done I popped open my ChromeOS (Lenovo Duet 5) and my Android tabllet (Lenovo P12 Pro) and while they have 11in and 13in displays… I can switch from one device to the other using Google Keep as a clipboard.

Keep in mind that my desktop workspace is 2 systems with 5 monitors. At any given time I’ll have a dozen terminal windows open with active editor sessions. ChromeOS has a reasonable terminal app build in… android does not. Tmux is pretty good and screen is there in a pinch. Sadly both the Android and ChromeOS devices do not support USB-C displayport but I guess that’s not a deal breaker. I’ve tried a number of my USB-C and other external displays and none of them “really” work out of the box and in some cases even the dongle does not work well.
ChromeOS still has the better external display integration and keyboard support. Although some of the android versions of apps are better integrated with the display. Of course some of this can be Android 9 vs Android 12(L). But it is a scream above a Linux distro. Those days are over. If fact looking at this setup I could argue going back to an iPhone Pro 12in.
